1983-1992, no turbo.
1992-1998, a turbo. 1999, finally figured out the intercooler thing that Dodge got 7 years earlier. |

The International 7.3 was better than the Ford/International 7.3 only because Ford changed a few parts, such as the injectors, water pump and a few other items. The bean counters at Ford blew it. The injectors were the biggest problem with the 7.3 (along with CPS)
FI was right about the 6duh0......NOT a good engine at all. LOTS of problems (although you will find a few that are happy with them). I haven't heard much about the 6.4 other than it's a PITA to work on . Meanwhile, I'll keep my 99 7.3 Oh, if you want an additive, put in some Bio-Diesel. Same cost as #2, but much better lubrication, even in amounts as low as 5% (B5).

There was some report on what additives did a good job of adding lubricity to the ULSD. Biodiesel was highly rated. I forget which comercial additive was the best. I think it was Optimax 2 cycle oil. I have put in some two-cycle oil. I think the reasoning between it and regular motor oil, is that it is designed to burn in combustion. So it leaves less deposits.
