W201....Front Brake Disc.....
Folks,
As I work on the 190D, continuing the parts swapping from the "E"..... The front brake discs on the W201 are secured to the hub in a different manner than the W123 and W126..... When I did the ball joints on the "D" last month, I inadvertently yanked the brake disc from the hub on one of the assemblies.....at first I sorta freaked....but then I noticed the "roll pins" and just figured that the disc is mainly held onto the hub by the pressure of the wheel and lug nuts..... I have a broken lug on the "D" and am cleaning up a hub/disc assembly from the "E".....and lo and behold there is a small "specialty" socket headed fastener that also holds the disc to the hub......are these specialty fasteners very important......or do y'all just leave them out like the PO of the "D" must have done...?? SB

Flat-head socket head screws.
I'm pretty sure they are just flat-head socket head cap screws (metric allen heads). Some of my cars have them, some are missing. I think they are mainly there for the convenience of holding the disk to the hub while the wheel is off. That little bolt couldn't take much of a shear load.

Nope....
they're not just plain old metric flat head screws.....they have a machined profile that fits the disc exactly.......
I know that they don't have much shear strength, just wondered if it was worthwhile to locate one for the other side of the car......or if there is some obscure safety reason..... Thanx SB
