Question 1985 300sd heater problems

I cannot get the heat on my 1985 300sd. If I turn on the defroster I get warm air at the windshield but the air is still cool coming out of the vents. Can someone offer some advise on this problem. Note this car has a kilma relay in the fuse box. Help please.

have you checked your monovalve? The diaphram rips and can allow cool coolant where hot should be, or something like that. But it happens to almost ALL these cars sooner or later
