Hood release cable replacement
I have checked the archives and can't find anything on this. I just bought a 1987 TDT with a broken hood release cable and I need a little insight on how to replace it. I have it disconnected under the dash but can't quite figure out how to disconnect at the latch mechanism. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Didn't DieselGiant do a DIY on this subject?

I have to use pliers in my '95 - it's come loose from the red plastic release lever and I can't seem to get it back in...

GM:
I believe it is permanently attached to the latch mechanism, at least that is my memory. 351: If it has broken the red lever, you will need a new one, pretty cheap. If not, have someone hold the latch over with a screwdriver or something so that here is plenty of lengh on the cable inside the car, and you can re-install it if nothing is broken. I had to replace the pull mechanism in my '94, not a difficult job, one screw and the cable IIRC.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look into it - after I finish everything else that's wrong with the car!
