Is there a water fountain in these cars

I pulled the ashtray on my car to get to the radio. Now I hear this odd noise coming from that section of the dash. Sometimes I hear the sound of fluid trickling in there, like some babbling brook. Normal? Should I be worried my keg tap on the passenger side is leaking into the dash area?

Condensate

'Could you be "hearing" the condensate from the Evaporator trickle out down the drains?

Some cars gurgle a little sometimes. It's the coolant in the heater core. Check your coolant level, but if it's properly filled I wouldn't worry about it. Keep any eye on the level for a little while, to make sure nothing is leaking.

Yes, my car has a heater core that gurgles also. After I do a coolant flush for this winter, I'm going to see if there is any change but so far there hasn't been a problem with it.

Woah!@ you must have gotten the japanese delivery option. it's got the feng shui features. very valuable. I've never seen one, but I hear they had issues with the voltage differences between German engineering and Japanese. take extreme care of this model.

Theres a part you can order for this to fix the problem. Its some kind of vent that is routed inline with the heater hose going to the core. Its a mercedes part, developed for customer complaints...

Yeah mine has a trickling water sound too. I have no coolant leaks and just assumed it was the heater core too.

Would be nice to get the part number of that "valve" that eliminates the noise....

I don't know how well this would "fix" the issue. It usually occurs on start-up which coincidentally is during the moment of silence reserved for Rudolph Diesel and listening for that ever-important click of the glow plug relay. Both of these important events would be interupted by a bunch of racket.
