Then I'd spend the rest finding a high mileage W210 4Matic Estate, preferably from the North where I know the cars hold up better.

Oh, and a '97 Dodge Neon with a huge fart can and some ground effects. Neons are pretty reliable commuters, right?

PAY someone to get mine to the point I want it, rather than doing EVERYTHING myself......new paint, new interior, new dash, AMG coupe lookalike diesel with Pentas, get the engine freshened up a little and find a 5 speed.

Back a few years ago, after finding out about vegoil running in diesels and living in land of deep fat fryers, went looking for diesel car, wound up with Rabbit, but in my search on Ebay saw this postwar, prewar design Mercedes black 2 door hardtop that had been a German police car, suicide doors, little diesel engine, looked great. If I ever win lottery am going to go looking for that car, only went for $20,000 so the $10,000 would be a nice down payment.
