Anybody ever heard of a B-2 Vacuum Valve and if so what does it do, and how much does it cost?

This is part of the transmission. If it's the B2 piston I've read it operates, gears 1 and 3. B1 is for 2nd gear.

.. except the B2 piston has nothing to do with vacuum.

Sounds to me like this seller is saying that the transmission doesn't work and trying to spin it like its no big deal. Do you really trust their diagnosis of internal transmission problems if they don't even know the proper name of the part? And if the repair is really that easy, they'd get a lot more by repairing it and selling a working vehicle.

The safe money says to assume it'll need a replacement transmission and make an offer accordingly.
