Back to the topic of the thread

I started out replacing the air filter box mounts and that has evolved into:
1. Replacing broken mounting bracket
2. Replacing deformed turbo to air cleaner gasket
3. Replacing check valves in both the turbo oil return and the oil seperator return lines.
4. Sealing the top of the oil seperator

Currently waiting for parts. 10 minute job could easily become 10 days considering the ordering and delivery of parts. At least I think I know where the threads are for directions. Wait, I've got to add that searching and reading time to my time estimates. Damm!

Got the parts and in researching, now see
http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/42634-air-cleaner-bracket-question.html#post1306062
that I also need and did not order a new seal for the turbo oiler line that must be removed to get the bracket off. Damm again!! I posted another question, but I'll repeat it here. Do those aircleaner shields turn up or down?

The patina continues.... and my idiocy.

I washed Ol' Turbo and the Defiant today. I have a very nice little wash mit that I recently used when wet sanding the bundts.

After rinsing, my first swipe on Ol' Turbo sounded funny. I found this stuck to my wash mit...

320 grit sand paper left over from my wheel refinishing. I thought I was going to vomit.

3 applications of 3m scratch remover later:

Its just barely noticeable now. Just enough to haunt me forever. I'm going to give it another go tomorrow with some other products, and hopefully I can fully put this behind me.

Put the tools down and step away from the car. NOW!

Loving that Hyundai in the back there.

Seems like those scuff pads love to stick to wash mitts, and microfiber towels. Really annoying.

Your first swipe sounded funny!? Geez. Ouch! Take it easy on that paint, man.

What kind of polish/wax do you use? And have you ever tried any Zaino polish? zainobros.com I think. I try to keep a few coats on mine and it lasts for like a year.

BTW, before slapping the battery tray in the car, consider covering it in por15.
