one MILLION dollars.

Well, maybe a little less. Already up to $14.5K and 16 bids with 8 days to go. I'm watching it now.

Damn that's nice. Looks like it's spent it's whole life in a garage. Cargo net, rack bars. No third seat?

Now I'll sit back and see if the pro's pick it apart.

Actros617 10-09-2008 05:00 PM

one picture is not going to get much ppl...GOOOOOOOOD LUCK ON THAT....

Graplr 10-09-2008 05:04 PM

Yeah, already at 14.5k and has not hit the reserve. I can't see it going for much more than 20k. I'm going to say 20k on the nose!

Click on the picture and it brings you to the album with 68 pictures.

sd300td 10-09-2008 06:55 PM

wow - so thats what they looked like new.

Makes my wagon look like an also ran.

I'd be surprised if it goes for more than $15,000. Such a nice vehicle and should probably be collected rather than driven. Putting it on daily driver duty would greatly devalue the car over time.

I hope some one gets it out of DC though. Bring it back to CA or a better climate.

Biodiesel300TD 10-09-2008 07:06 PM

In one place it says 44k miles in another it say 444k miles. which do you believe. I'd be leary, especially since there is only one photo.

Lexxani 10-09-2008 07:13 PM

nigerian scam in disguise? look at the bottom of that one pic on the listing, am I seeing rust on the bottom lip of the bumper?

79Mercy 10-09-2008 07:18 PM

lex, did you get my PM yesterday?

ImBroke 10-09-2008 08:48 PM

I'll guess 18,800. It's missing the "Diesel Fuel Only" sticker. That is very nice. I thought the gauge needles would be darker orange. I especially liked the non wrinkly door plastics.

Hatterasguy 10-09-2008 09:41 PM

Thats a lot of money for an old E class, for $10k more you can get a CDI.

And lack the versatility of a wagon.

POS 10-10-2008 01:11 PM

It's going to break my record - I sold a 1985 300TDT wagon with 56k-one-owner-miles on it for $16,700 about two years ago (blue on blue). When it came down to it, the car was worth so much more than I had in it that I had to sell it - I used the proceeds to end up with my SL AMG. Thing is, anyone who'll pay that much for an old MB wagon will (a) take good care of it, and (b) has got to be a collector. In other words, it's probably going to good hands.

vstech 10-10-2008 01:23 PM

... GREEN COOLANT!!!
oh, and it's a CA car... phtoooie!
has anyone ever seen a wagon with rear headrests, but no third row seat?

TheDon 10-10-2008 01:27 PM

who would pay $15k-20K for one of these cars... its crazy!

Not me. Maybe rear headrests came standard with the cargo net/cage/cover?

JimmyL 10-10-2008 02:12 PM

That is time capsule-esk! Having said that, it is still stupid to pay that much for one of these.
The certainly did pay for some interesting options. Roof cross bars are cool, rear cargo net thing is nice, but how wild to have 2 rear headrests!!!! First wagon I have EVER seen with just 2, without the middle one.
Shame it's a Cali model, but if it wasn't it probably wouldn't be in that good a shape.
Did I mention how stupid it is to pay that much for one of these.......

SwampYankee 10-10-2008 03:05 PM

All true, but if I had stupid money I'd probably spend it stupidly. At least to those unfamilar with the scrambled workings of my brain. :)

NoSparkNeeded 10-11-2008 07:37 PM

Well...

It's at 17,000 bucks now. IF, IF, it is genuine, and maintained properly, what the heck could you get that was a better car? Very proven design.
No electronic garbage to complicate things. The only bad thing is that it is
not a FED model. Knowing what I know now, I'd take that car for 17,000
if it were a FED and I wanted it as my only car. Something that nice would
be a burden though sort of. It wouldn't be as useful as one with some "patina":D. What new car could you get that would be as cool? As good
a "value". I cannot think of any, right off.

ob1 canola 10-11-2008 11:00 PM

As one could not get a loan for that car you would need cash.
Not sure i have that much in my 401k anymore ..But i havn't checked since
yesterday...:(

reflection.

But- who would pay that much for a car with a cracked windshield washer tank??

yellowbenz 10-12-2008 02:33 AM

Seller has been doing this for awhile. He's a forum member. Must be alot of these cars in the D.C. area. I should probably buy this car instead of a Jetta TDI or 2 year old CDI for my upcoming commute. Problem is you'd never see that amount from an insurance company if there is a wreck. I'm pretty sure I'm never going to own a 300TD given the money these cars are still commanding.

I drive my cars, not worship them. It would get used. :P

didnt' even see the washer tank. Bah, they're cheap enough.

Hatterasguy 10-12-2008 11:23 AM

I'd feel bad ruining a car that has survived for 25 years. Buy a $5k driver for that, save the good ones.
