Cool Sitting 300D with full tank

Hello everyone, I am new to the diesel game. I purchased a 1985 300D turbo in April. I was doing brakes and shocks and discovered rusted out trailing arm. Needless to say it opened pandora's box and I dropped the rear end and replaced seals, bushings, shocks and started repairing the usual Mercedes rust issues. After many thread searches, is there any potential issues with diesel sitting in the tank for 6 months? Any insight is appreciated.

It should probably be fine. I just bought a 240D that had been sitting for a few months and I haven't had any trouble with the fuel that was in the tank.

I don't think diesel goes "bad" as fast at gasoline.

No worries with 6 month old fuel, just put in a new clear filter and keep your eye on for a couple of hundred miles to be sure there is no water. I have used fuel thats is 2years + old and cant really tell any difference in running or starting. Don

better to leave it full than half full or empty.

It will be fine, but if you desire more piece of mind than a discussion group can provide, throw some starbrite diesel treatment in there.

diesel doesn't go bad like gas, it does though get a "algae" If the tank was full that is great news. If the tank was full the likelihood of algae is very rare. dont worry about it just watch the clear filter.

How leaving it half full or empty i've always heard leave it completely full to avoid having air pockets that sweat with heat/cooling expansion and introducing water into the system

I agree with everyone else on this. I would add, have a fuel filter on hand in case sediment plugs the filter quickly.

Man, think how much more diesel was 6 months ago. Your car should love burning that expensive stuff.......
