Help needed 123 windows

I put the pas. front window down on the coupe today
and it would not go up again.....nothing from the motor.
I pulled the console up and tried putting the plug in a different
switch....no go. Pulled the door panel off and checked for voltage
at the block.....nothing either way.
checked fuses....good.
The front windows are the only ones that have worked since
I have had it. The drivers side still works. Does the pass. side
and drivers side get power from 2 different places?
I am also assuming() that power comes into the switch, then
out to the window motor....am I correct in this thinking?
I did put power to the terminal block at the motor, and was
able to put the window up/down as it should so it is not a motor
problem, and I believe I eliminated the switch as a problem by
trying a known good switch, so it must be power.....right

which wire is power and where?

Hey Jack, Test the wires themselves. The wires can break in the accordian at the door jamb due to 20+ years of bending them.

I had to strip in new wires for my rear passenger window.

fuses

When you checked the fuses, did you take them out? Roll them around? Corrosion at the seats is sometimes a problem, and hairline cracks another. Looking won't catch the problem.

Ditto what Chad said.

The fuses are cross linked ... but since your back windows don't work, that won't help narrow anything down. It could be the fuse, it could be the wires (1 or all the wires).

Ground

When I first purchased my TD, 2 windows did not work. It turned out to be the ground screw in the front of both doors had gotten loose. How the heck that haapened, who knows. Just pulling the door panels, cleaning
the lug and retightening, made the windows work. IIRC the ground was in the front part of the door. One thing related to this that annoys me, is that you have to turn the key ALL the way into the start (glow) position,
to work the windows, if you are just parked and want air.

also, if you did any work on the switches or in the switch area, you can get the plugs on incorrectly which will allow some function but not all. my bet is the fuse, right front rear left on one fuse, left front and right rear on another

Are you sure you are not thinking of a different vehicle? A W123 window motor is most certainly not grounded through the door. It is grounded back through the window switch. In fact, the positive and negative "flip flops" depending on whether the window is going up or down, as determined by the switch position.
