Auto-trans vac valve adjustment,
I've got a 124 E250 diesel 1994, the gear change between 1st and 2nd is worring as the engine lets go of 1st it doesn't seen to catch 2nd, therefore over reving the engine until i take foot off the gas at which time it will engauge 2nd. what i've done so far is check all vac pipes and connections (all good) the only thing to help was moving the outer body of the gearbox vac valve 1/3 of a turn , it now is't as bad, i've bough a new vac valve but not sure how to replace as new valve comes with a small T piece adjustment tool,??? Can anyone tell me more about this vac valve and how to set-up correctly.

It's sort of like a faucet. Screwing it clockwise is like cutting off the vacuum, screwing it counterclockwise opens up or gives more vacuum. It sounds like yours is NOT getting enough, should be screwed out or counterclockwise.
Since yours is acting like it is not getting enough vacuum, it might suggest you might be getting NO vacuum, so start up the engine and see if you are getting vacuum at the modulator. Gilly
