It is easily enough done with the hood vertical. Let the glue semi dry first. I used the spray on stuff. Then attach the pad and roll over it (I used a wine bottle).

I bought a can of the 3M adhesive. I did this job by myself. It turned out great, no need to remove the hood.

I was looking for the sound deadener he used. I have several things (not all benz related) that I could use it for.

Some auto parts stores sell a lot of body shop supplies. They are the ones that tend to also stock the 3M spray adheasive. I used this to install a hood pad from a 300D on to my 240D and it held for years.

The same with mine. If I had a Hood Pad it would not be of much practical value as my Head manages to hit other parts of the Hood.

Maybe a helmet would be a better option for that problem?

A Helmet might damage the Hood!!!
So far my Head has healed up nicely. I cannot put my Hood straight up and down as where the Hood Hinge attaches behind the Battery Tray rusted through and pulled out. So right now I prop the hood open with a stick. This is why I never may have a Hood pad on my car as there are a lot of other problems that need work that are more important. The only use I can see for the Hood Pad is it Deadens the sound and I guess in Winter helps to hold some heat in the Engine Compartment. After that I guess it is just cosmetic.

On a side note but related to the joke.
I dont recommend putting the hood all the way up when you are on the side of the road.

I bought mine from Phil. Don't remember how much I paid, but it's worked out fine. I have since noticed that Dynamat also has hood pads. There sound deadening stuff works great, but I don't have any experience with the hood pads.

Not sure I am following this debate about the aluminum pad vs no aluminum area on the Turbo Diesel but...
The old one I took off of my 1983 had an aluminum portion over the Turbo/Air Filter box area that was about all that was left of the Hood pad. The rest had practically turned to dust making me assume that was the original one. The only thing still remotely intact was the Aluminum portion. So I replaced mine with what came off, the one with the extra Aluminum.
