Sounds like you could negotiate a little lower price for that car. My coupe was 5k, no rust on the body except a bubble on the trunk, 122k miles and garaged since new, new timing chain and rear end, everything working except the ACC servo. Non turbo though, cruises well at 75.
You should be able to negotiate a lower price because of the broken annoying accessories, the rust spot/hidden rust? all of those issues aren't too hard to fix. Is it a turbo CD? My coupe gets attention too. I've had a few people follow me places to ask me if it's for sale when I get out of the car. The P.O of my coupe said when he was driving on the highway someone in a Mercedes drove to the left, right, and in front of his car to get a good look at it. They are the best w123's IMO, although I'm biased because I own one.

The pre-purchase inspection and black leather interior closed the deal. Service records are about 80% complete, and it has a MB factory rebuilt transmission. I think I will be happy with the purchase.

Two items that come with maintinence on the mb coupes ,the window regulator on the doors tends to bend after a lot of use, the next problem Ive come across is the vacuum control on the front seats that alowws the seat to lift for rear seat access never seem to work properly .Its sometimes a problem also dealing with worn leather seats that these coupes almost always came with factory, weathered leather is different than hardened leather (never conditioned).Buy one and drive it ,they are always worth the investment if their rust free ,drive and shift fine, and the price is right. Ill consider selling one of mine for $3600 .houston area.

Great color combination, the car looks great too. Much better than my coupe in gold/red. Why the P.O special ordered those colors, I don't know. My window regulators are slowly breaking too.

The coupe gets the ladies, the sedan gets the traveling, and the wagon gets the groceries.
Take your pick!

I've only driven one sedan. Seemed kinda', I don't know, frumpy. Maybe it was a bad example....
When I decided I wanted an MB diesel I knew I wanted a coupe. I drove a few before buying mine. They're a couple hundred pounds lighter, and have the slightly shorter wheelbase, so they're a little sportier handling, but most of all, they just look so RIGHT! They're usually more expensive to buy, but on the other hand they hold their value better too. The coupe-specific parts are both a little harder to find AND more expensive when you do find them, but there really aren't that many parts that won't interchange with a sedan. The sedans still turn the heads of us enthusiasts, but nobody else even gives them a second glance. The coupe is a different story. Lots of people notice the coupes - just because they are so darned good looking!

While in Portland Maine a few years ago I came back to the car and there was a bunch of German tourists checking out the car. Smiles and nods all around as I pulled away.
The coupe has a lower roof line (2" I think) and I know mine is faster than a friends 85 300D. The door window regulators want to twist- the mounting bolts get loose, and my drivers side door has a mounting hole that has been braised because the metal in the door tore. Finally the regulator itself broke. I got creative and put it back in with some extra bolts and washers last year. The rear windows need to be just right to go all the way down- if you assemble it wrong they turn into 'child safe' windows and only go down half way. There is a circlip that likes to pop off which makes the rears malfunction. Vacuum seat retainers? Yeah, there are blue vac. lines hanging around under the seats. Every once in a while another chunk of blue tube shows up loose on the floor and I think I should do something about it someday. I'd buy another. Nothing quite like a pillarless coupe.

Coupes are horrible. The interiors arent designed as well, they ruined the lines of the 123 when they made them, youll never find coupe specific parts, and riding in the back seat makes you want to die.
My dad likes them though

The leather or vinyl pulls away from the plastic holder at the back windows and looks crappy. You'd better hope you have a replacement of any of your windows break. The window regulators suck, all 4 of mine have various faults but still work. The back ones are flawed from the factory and bend, so do the fronts. Pressing the button up while the window up contributes to this since the powerful motor presses up on the weak regulator. The back seat is a teutonic torture chamber, your head hits the windshield while your legs are crushed. Comfortable seats though since no-one dares sit in them for long. Perhaps people were smaller in 70's germany. Also there's vacuum elements inside the seats, that like all vacuum elements, break. You must remove the seat to replace these. Good luck finding the parts for that, I think George Murphy might have replacements. With broken vacuum elements in the seats, the seats won't lock and you/your passenger will hit the steering wheel/dashboard harder in an accident with a seat throwing you forward. Thanks for using vacuum when a switch or button would suffice, MB. Basically anything coupe specific breaks. They're still better than sedans though.
