Ordered a new cigar hose from Phil, and yowza! That thing has a real purpose. When I put it on, I had about three gallons in the tank, so no immediate results; but then filled her up and, wowee wow wow, it runs like that all the time now. Less idle smoke, more pep, much smoother idle, and I'm betting more mpg. Thanks guys!

Can the cigar hose be replaced with an adapter and say a 3/4" hose for the return line?

During that one cycle one element after another in the injection pump is being sequentially filled. So the first element gets a high pressure fill when the lift pump is at its highest pressure. The next element gets slightly less pressure the third even less and the second even more so etc. Then the lift pump and injection pump cycle starts again. Thats why I asked earlier has anyone noticed a cigar hose going hard with age. If this happened it should be changed out. It is actually a critical issue at least in my mind. So much so I have been considering the effects of eliminating the lift pumps pulses totally. Much will depend on the actual swing in pressure that still remains with a proper functioning cigar hose and clean return line. A couple of pounds swing will be okay more will not be. It will still be awhile till normal swing is accuratly tracked and it's true viariance known. It could very easily impact possible milage on these cars somewhat even if prefforming as designed. I just have not totally reflected on this yet. Plus the information I need is not known yet. The further buffering of the fuel supply to the pump may be benificial. I have already designed what has to be done to accomplish this very easily. To prove the need is my present concern. I used to be able to borrow specialized test equipment from a plant that manufactured heavy water. That source is denied me now. My contact left the company. So in many cases when chasing things it slows me down. Last edited by barry123400; 10-28-2008 at 10:17 PM. |
