Outside temperature LCD old to new wire harness?

Hello!
Dos anybody know how to modify old wire harness, for outside temperature LCD in cluster, to work with new LCD from 1993 W124? Old LCD from 1986-89 W124 - 4 pin connector, from 1990 - 5 pins.

Thanks in advance!

If you have the FSM, it has wire pin-outs. If not, and you took the wire connnector from the newer car, with a short length of wires for color identifications, you're still okay.

If you have neither, one of us will have to look it up, and figure out which wire is which, and which one is the new wire to the speed-sensor block behind the speedo cluster.

PM me if you need the FSM referenced, I can look it up a little later.

Question...not meaning to hijack the thread, but my LCD is lit, but that's just the light from the dash. The display is no longer functioning...just happened. What would be the potential issues/fixes?

Appreciated - Andy

The display in your '95 gets: Ign Power, Ground, Sens in, Light, Speed. Could be that the Ign Power is interrupted, it would still light I believe.

Apologies for my ignorance here, but I'm not following your thought process. So the LCD that used to display the outside temp doesn't show any temp. I wasn't sure what you meant...

Sorry.

The light is provided by a different wire than the LCD display power. Having it light doesn't mean it has power.

Gotcha and that's what I was assuming as well. I'll have to take the dash out to check that then I believe. Thanks for your input :)

I am trying to do the same thing, Can someone tell me what color wires from the four pin harness goes to what pin on the five pin display? I do not have the five pin harness end. So I need clear direction if possible. If looking at the display from the back left to right for instance.

I found my notes when I switched mine.

New LCD from the back.

Gray, yellow, green, brown, white. Hope that helps.

For folks searching in the future.
