Hi guys,

Vehicle: 87 300D turbo, CA spec.

I took the weekend to take care of a seemingly easy job of refreshing all the critical vacuum tubes and connectors on the driver's side of the engine. Don't let anyone fool you: it's a long, tedious job! Whether needed or not, I replaced the dash pots as well. I am doing this in preparation for vacuum testing and corrections (if needed)

What's difficult to tell though, is where the yellow restrictors are located on either of the MBZ or the Performance products diagrams. Here's a picture of how I routed them with the restrictors (image attached).

Do I have the correctly positioned?

The difference in mine is the splitter off the top of the VCV is reversed - your Y splits upwards, mine splits downward. Otherwise routing is the same and the restrictors are in the same place. I don't know if there is restrictors are directional.

Is it possible to use the transmission modulator hardware off a 90-up 60x which doesn't have a tranny vacuum amp?

Hey Six,

You have a CA spec 87 right? Just to make 100% sure, CA spec 87s have two VCVs, right? One on the firewall and one located as you see in the picture, right?

I don't think California Diesels are different for 87. Mine was purchased new in Dallas. I thought yours was from out-of-state. How did a 124 gets that rusty in California?

Two VCVs - one for the ALDA, one for the transmission. Neither serves an emissions fucntion.

yes, it was bought from out of state, but the plate says it is spec'd for CA emissions. There's a vac diagram for the 603 engine that has 3 VCVs...or maybe the 3rd is not a VCV. anyways, thanks for the confirmation.

I only see 2 VSVs on the useful side of the vacuum map. Where does your diagram show another VSV?
