Whenever I go anywhere with my 4 year old daughter, she asks "are we going in the diesel, daddy". She absolutely loves my 83 300D, and has a fit if we take something else.

And for everyone who hasn't driven a 300SDL, you have to drive one before you will believe it is a diesel tank.
I'm sorry but that picture was from 2006. The tank now has 110,000 miles on it. I purchased it from the original owner in 2005 when it had 79,000 miles on it. It still looks the same, except I finally found a tow hook cover for the front bumper.

That is a very nice tank, and that is also a very nice bug. How's the power of that bug with the AC running? Does the air get very cold?

Thats the color of the 66 Beetle that my dad bought new in 66. I loved it and borrowed it whenever I could. One fine weekend I took it to indianapolis and was taking my gf (future Mrs. #1) from the south side up to Clowes Hall to see Simon and Garfunkle in concert and an old lady in a Chevy II ran a redlight and nailed us on my side of the car.

It pushed in the side about 13" right at the door. My seat was curled around my torso like a racing bucket but I suffered only bruises and glass in my eyes. My gf did not have her seat belt and hit the grab bar on the dash with her upper arm and it was broken in several places requiring a large pin.

The bug was totalled.

Dad replaced it with a 65 Corvair which drove a lot better, hanlded better, and was faster. It was a POS though. Even when two years old you would get oil fumes inside the pass compartment from the leaking valve tube seals.

The power is just fine. It is a kit from ICE in California utilizing a sanden rotary compressor and two condensors; one in the engine compartment on the firewall and the other up under the front suspension. The one in the front has an electric fan attached to it that runs continuously when the A/C is on.
I installed it 11 years ago and had to add a little R134A this past summer.
Vent temps are around 38 to 40 degrees. It really cools the car nicely.

Beautiful car. Same interior colors as my 300SD and in just as nice shape!

I would say that is the worse thing about Toyota is the brakes. My 1996 Rav4 AWD has 253,000 miles and the 1999 Solara has 145,000. The brakes on the Solara are really bad. The Rav is better. I will say that Toyota's are not junk. These two cars have been 100% reliable. The rav has only had a timing belt or two and the Solara a starter and a timing belt. My 1980 300sd is often called a tank by my friends. I wish Toyota had Mercedes brakes that would be great!!!!

I laughed at this when I read it. I always wanted an old Beetle, and when I read 1967 Beetle I thought NO!, then you said over your dead body, which summed up what I thought.
