Looking For A Block Heater Cord
I'm looking for a block heater cord for my 1999 E300D. Used, substitute for OEM, new--all considered. I'm also trying to find a cap/cover for the block heater when it's not being used.

You should be able to get a cord from Fastlane or the other Internet sellers. The factory cord has some heat insulation and a screw-in lock at the block heater end (screws into the threads the cap comes out of). It's a nicer cord and costs twice as much. Mine cost $65.49 after a 15% MBCA discount and before tax at my dealer.
The cap usually gets thrown away when the cord is installed; you might be able to order one from a dealer. I've never heard of anyone taking the cord off once it's installed; why would you want to do this? Jeremy

Part Number?
I need the a block heater cord too. The one on my car when I got it was too deteriorated to be safe. My car is a W123, but I wonder if they would use the same cord. I bought one from fastlane only to find out it does not fit my car. I still have it if anyone wants it for a good price. Does anyone know the part number for the OE one? I need the one with the screw on attachment.
Thanks, Shane

$65?? It really is a stealership. I got mine from the stealership for $15.
BTW, you can get a block heater cord from the freightliner dealership. It seems that all block heater cords for Mercedes engines are the same. Not sure what they'd cost.

Yours is a different car, Amosfella.
Just go to the dealer. It really isn't all that expensive. |
