I believe the car would not accelerate normally if the turbo was bad. So the machine pretty much requires the turbo to keep pace with traffic. I've test driven one with a flakey turbo and it lugged pretty bad.

If cruise control and AC compressor work, problem is probably the tach itself. First task is to make sure connections on the back side of the gauge are set properly. Otherwise test with a known good tach. If cruise and AC don't work and idle is low, could be a bad overvoltage protection relay (silver box 2cm x 2cm x 4xm with red plastic top and a fuse or two on top), a bad ring gear sensor (follow the wire behind the oil filter housing to where it attaches between the engine and transmission above the starter) or bad wiring along the way.

Ah yes, turbo. If you can accelerate 0-60mph in 12-14 seconds, turbo is not a problem.

There is a line that goes from the intake manifold to a switching device on the firewall then to a 8cm x 8cm square device on top of the injection pump. Disconnect the line at the injection pump, plug the open line with a golf tee. That will essentially disable the turbo. Drive the car. If no difference, there is a problem with the turbo or turbo signal to the injection pump. Make sure you can blow air through the fitting on the intake manifold (comes off easiy with a wrench) all the way to the device on the injection pump. If not, clean what has to be cleaned. If performance declines when you disconnect the line, turbo is functioning at least partially. Possible option is to trade your car for a 420SEL

When the fuel enrichment on my SDL wasn't working it would bairly do 80. It would also never make the 3-4 shift because it didn't have enough power to get to 4100 rpm. Without boost or fuel enrichment the car is slowwww.
