Firetender,
Ever consider reading the Factory Shop Manual ? Or even read what is in the archives about this procedure BEFORE posting ?

Using the cam marks is a good way to get an idea where you stand with the chain. However it is not an approved method of determining chain stretch.
There is a tutorial in the DIY section on how to check the chain stretch. A perfect example is looking back through this post the poster determined that he needed a new chain without checking the proper way. Then he didn't get the results he expected. Another mistake he made was he didn't check it again after he put the new chain in. And he didn't adjust the injection pump. Danny

8* chain stretch OM616 Quote:
I did get the results I expected....The 5* woodruff key bought me a bit of time - chain stretch after installation was somewhere in the 3-5* range (been a while so I don't remember) USING THE 2MM lift method. I still have to replace my injectors (that is a job for next month), then sometime early next year I will replace the chain. BTW - I did adjust the injection pump using the drip method - that was a different thread. Not sure how it is relevant to the topic of this one.

Zeke, Not wishing any bad will on you but at 8 degrees, you are already on borrowed time. But then, I have 1* left and I'm getting paranoid.
