Intake not going back on 300SDL

I had a hard time getting the intake manifold lined back up. There is a plastic piece that lines up on the underside of the intake on three of the holes and I could not get the hex screws all the way back in on those 3 holes. I can only assume it is leaking where those 3 screws are not lined up. Can I just pull the plastic piece aside and tighten the screws back down?

Never pulled the 603 manifold, so I'll defer to those that have.

Would like to do one this winter.........so, I'll be listening.

I have had mine off several times but I can't picture what he is talking about.

My guess is the brackets for the glow harness are getting in the way. The brackets go above the manifold flanges to be retained by the manifold bolts. They do make access to the bolts awkward but I don't recall it being that difficult. It might be more helpful to provide aquaman0001 with pictures of how everything looks installed.

Here are some from when I did the GP's and sealed a bunch of leaks last winter.
