I read that there are 3 fuel filters on the 1995 E300D. One regular filter, a pre-filter and a fuel strainer near the tank. Has anyone ever changed the strainer and how difficult is it?

On the earlier models it is a matter of draining the Fuel out of the tank and using the right size socket to unscrew the screen from the bottom of the Tank (even if your tank appears to be empty you will still need a pan to catch fuel when you remove the tank screen). Older models have a metal screen which is cleaned and reused and the O-ring or gasket changed and put back into the tank.

just to re-establish enough fuel flow to allow the Startron to do it's job]
