With an SLK you would be moving too fast to catch Diesel fumes...

IF they become actually available, I think I'd be planning to make a trip to Europe...buy one, tour a while, and ship it home.

Today, I'm partial to Black on Black...

Nah there not that much, they are like $50k.

The problem with SLK's is that everyone has one, and for 09 you can only get the auto.

Its a girl car, if you want a drop top MB the SL or CLK if you want 4 seats is the one to get. The 5.5L V8 is the engine to get.

Its not the power, its how its delivered. 4 bangers are not balanced so you won't get the silky smooth pull to redline of an I6 or a V8.

I still think the I6 is the best engine for any sports car, period. Jag, BMW, MB. They messed up when they dumped the I6. Well except for BMW, they have proven that you can get all kinds of power out of them with the 335I's.

Gloves off...
Okay my lil' SLK chick car eats 500s afore breakfast... plus 28 mpg and on the edge of equilibrium for torque... top end at 140 (rather thats as far as I've pushed so far.) Yes, I know the v8 will do a theoretical 175 (at 12mpg)but the SLK will make it AROUND the TURNS at that speed...(Well, they do handle like a rocket on curleycue rails, WAY MUCH better than MY test drive of the Beamer Z4, SL500 and the Lambo Quatro(well that was fast but not as precisely tight (and at @12 mpg) oh and I still have the other $50,000 dollars in my pocket.

I kinda like traveling lite in a two seater anyway...it is a roadster and not a cushie topless coupe...don't malign fine engineering until you've been behind the wheel...
(I'll report out reliability and maintainability performance for the SLK as it occurs...CHICKS INCLUDED :^)

Different strokes, you know what I mean...

Motor on
iSN'T THIS S'POSED TO BE A DIESEL FORUM?
Peace out

Oh I have driven plenty of SLK's, currant and last gen. My uncle bought a 1998 when they first came out, first one in the state of CT probably. Yellow on black, kompressor too if my memory serves me.

The SLK AMG which I have not driven yet is probably a decent car. The SLK350 is much better than the previous gen, and I will say does handle pretty damn well, and I do really enjoy MB's new V6. I was only getting like 15 when I was driving it though, I have no idea how you get 28!

A lot of trophy wives drive them around here.

Different strokes as you say.

Oh, I think see your point about the balance for the I4 versus the I6 but I don't quite get it...six to one and a half dozen to the other. Please elaborate...???is it a V-4 with twin turbos???If so it would shatter your teeth , vertebrae and right down to the a$$bone.
I had assumed it was an I-formation 4 cylinder and the balance would be fairly close to an I-6. What Am I missing? (serious, not argumentative)
Even though I hava chick car...

Apologies if I was over-bearing... not really my intention at all. I really do like the lil SLKs and am impressed with their performance.
I had withheld opinion until I had driven the competition and then I bought one.
So far, we have averaged 28 MPG and that includes roadtrips from St Louis to Houston, TX , Alabama and to North Carolina as well as the daily commute in St Louis, MO.
It Takes all I can do to get behind the wheel here at home, what with the trophy wife and all...
I'm gonna have to get one of my own...

And No, not a SL 500...

of course I would accept one if it were given to me...
