Success is sweet - new steering components
I was able to knock out a quick project yesterday morning - it's pretty nice to get something done without any major issues!
I replaced both tie rods, center link, steering damper, and installed the repair kit on the idler arm. Overall, it went very smooth...took me about 3 hours, although the first tie rod took me probably an hour or so (apparently, like my car, it takes me a while to get warmed up!). I used a pickle fork to separate the joints - it worked fine. The new ends had the nylon nuts - the old had the cotter-style pins sticking out the bottom. I did match up the length of the old and new tie rods, but the steering wheels is still a bit out of whack...I have an appointment for the alignment on Monday. Actually, I was able to get it done well ahead when I thought I might be done, so I took the opportunity to change the leaky primer pump, and change the fourth glow plug (ugh...that was a bit of a bear). Three projects in one day! Again, thanks to the forum for all the help. Cheers.
