Brake fluid doesn't contain potassium.

I doubt it. They're very reputable. Ever since that report, 10,000 miles ago, I watch the level, check it weekly, and I haven't put a drop in the dang thing.

Either they screwed up...........or you screwed up............take your pick.

The glycol didn't drop in during a rainstorm. It came from the coolant.

0.5% soot (insolubles) is a little high as well.

At the top of the column, the posted mileage on the oil reads: 12,000. If this is accurate, the .5% soot is negligible.

In this thread: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1205198&Board=25&fpart=all&gonew=1#UNREAD I was very concerned about the high postassium level in my truck.

Terry Dyson of Dyson labs felt that the higher than normal level was from the alternative fuel I run and that it posed no problem. PM me if you would like me to forward to you the e-mail exchange I had with Terry. Of course, if you don't run an alt. fuel, the information won't apply.

In the past, Blackstone has speculated that small amounts of potassium without any glycol might be coming from fuel addatives. No idea if that is true or not, but I do use a little fuel addative, and my 300D has always shown a little potassium.

I agree with this premise.

since your run interval is so high this test probably doesn't mean much. Lots of things can get in oil at 12k

Blackstone can analyze any petroleum based substance. We could have Power Service, Redline DFC, etc. tested. It's just a matter of whether or not we are curious enough to pay the money to get the answer.

If we had enough people willing to chip in, say, 5 bucks each, we could probably get a few of the major brands tested.
