Newby with a rear window problem

Hello all,

I've had my 83 300D now for a few months and I have a problem that I need diagnosed. My driver's side rear window will go up and down with the main switch except when it's about 2 inches from the top (going up). I can hear what sounds like the motor turning but the window stops. I can manually lift the glass to the top and it will stay there for a couple of rides then slowly ease down a half inch or so. I can help it go down and it will go all the way after a little help. Is this a regulator problem or motor?

Thanks

Sounds like your regulator gear teeth are stripped.

Thanks, I was afraid you might say that. I'll get one on order.

definitely the regulator assy. if you hear motor and no movement. You may want to try and remove it first, and look to see what the failure is. I've replaced both my front regulators, and rebuilt both motors as well.
