Carpet padding? W123

Hi
How is the flooring carpeting set up? Is there the floor mats then the carpeting, then a carpet pad? If there is a padding does it cover the whole floor of the car and under the seats or is it just pieces where the feet are?

My car has nothing on the floor, the carpet were thown out.
Thank you

Mine both have carpet with some kind of heavy closed cell foam backing that conforms to the wireways and ducts running across the floor.

padding== sound deadening. Try finding something in the local junkyard or asking on here in parts with a WTB.

The floor cross-section from top to bottom: Carpet, foam padding, plastic layer (these portions can be lifted up like a floor mat) asphalt sound deadening material, metal floor, undercoating, air

complete new sets of carpets are avail for these cars just do a little looking on the web or even EBAY! Each carpet section is removeable and snaps into place. They are prefabbed with the backing glued to the carpet itself. Much nicer then the american and japanese junk. Easily removed to clean and keep an eye on the problem plauged floors in these cars.

thats pretty funny, is it quality or junk

carpets can be had pretty easily from the pick and pulls. Also if you are not a purist you can get a roll of carpet and glue on your backs pretty cheaply. I did my first 300D for about $75 and it looked perfect

I don't know about the 123s, but that carpet backing was not available for my 107. Or if it was, only from dealer at exorbitant price.

I bought a piece of black foam carpet underlay from Home Depot (The firm stuff - not the colored pebbly stuff). It is about 1/4" thick - I made a template and then cut pieces to fit into those wireways and depressions (chamfered the edges). Then I cut a full size piece as the main carpet underlay. I glued the pieces together to form a good imitation of the original molded pieces. Then finally after making sure everything lined up, I glued the carpet to the underlay.

I bought my carpets from a guy on eBay (qualitytopsandinteriors aka germanautotops guys name Armen Oganesyan email kush123 at yahoo.com) Well, they did not fit properly and he would not fix them Had to cut and hack at them myself.

I think I would buy some carpet, cut it to shape and then get someone to sew the edging on. Or buy from World Upholstery who always do good work.

I've got a set...

I have a full set of carpet with the sound deadening stuff on the back for a 300D if you're interested. It's the quartz interior color and includes the carpet for the console as well, but no floor mats. I'm about to put it on E-bay, where I bought it from. Wanted it to match the car I was buying, bought it ahead of time (like a fool), and then went to look at the car. Turned out it was not as advertised (to say the least) and now I have a carpet set for no reason. PM me if interested.

I'm pretty sure it's quartz, the seller didn't know for sure, but here's the link to the completed auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130256405131&ssPageName=STRK:MERFB:IID

will be asking for around what i paid for it, but i'll take a hit to pay the idiot tax.

I'm pretty sure I have a BLUE set for a 300D --- the entire set. It's interesting I got mine with a car in mind.......I had already seen the car and knew the price. Now, I've seen the light and would never buy that car for that price. There are much nicer cars with more "potential" that need our attention.

I have bought material from World upholstery and had a good experience with them. They're quick, seem to have OEM products, and I thought their prices were pretty reasonable.

If you end up buying non-fitted carpet, you can always take it to a carpet shop to have the edges bound after you've cut it to the right size and shape.
