I looked at this in person and I liked it the seller wont let it go less than $4000 she actualy sent me a second chance offer already for $4000

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&item=320317100928

Didnt look at this one in person but the seller contacted me to look at it and he sounds very motivated I may be able to get it for auction price

What exactly did you win?

The listing for the 87 says leather but that isn't leather.

I am the highest bidder on both auctions without reserve met the grey one she wants $4000, the blk car the seller said on the phone he wants as close as possible to $4000 i have my ways of talking him down tho i am pretty sure i can get it for the auction price which is $3550

so its between the two now the 87 with 189k or a 93 with 213k

its fake leather ? felt like leather to me tho

It's called MB tex. Wears like iron but it's not leather. Leather as in the stuff they peel off cows was an option on both those cars.

This is an '87, ASR was not available, memory seat is standard, and yes, the driver's side mirror adjustment is not electric.

Sorry to disagree on the seat, but both of my '87s have it, and it's listed on the original window sticker as standard (as it is on the brochure).

ASR was an option on 2.5s.

There's a lot wrong with the '87 auction: It lists passenger air bag, leather seats, tilt wheel (twice), active seat-belts (meaning the Diane Steed mandated motorized ones, not SRS), tan interior, gold exterior, all-wheel-drive, heated seats, memory seat(s), power mirror(s), ... none of which this car has.

Honestly, having looked at cars from the salty Delaware area, I think it is overpriced at $4k with those miles and an ad that is clearly not accurate. That even though I like this particular year.

The '93 also, no leather, no traction control, but it does have heated seats which is unusual especially without leather, but again a salt-road car with over 200k on it for that money is not stealing it. Wierd to see SLS on the car also.

My turn to debate Jeff That 93 has ASR. My telltale is the little window in the speedo at the 120km/h position. Where did you see SLS?

This is the first time I see heated tex in a US spec car.

You're probably right on the 87 memory seat. Maybe what I'm thinking is it wasn't standard on the 260E.

You are both wrong! It has ASD not ASR, check with Dave. ASR was the gasser version which was electronic. The ASD was hydraulic and could give 100% lock up I believe. The little window Sixto mentions is the tell tale sign. You can also see the fluid tank behind the driver's side headlight.

Memory driver seat was standard in '87. I believe I've seen heated MB tex seats once, but not sure if it was factory or an DIY upgrade.

Yes for the '87 and '93. You can upgrade to Euros.

I would buy the '93 if it was rust free.

Reasons:

1. I would rather change a head gasket than buy a new head.
2. Better mpg, but he is stretching the truth on the 45+ mpg.
3. I would love to have ASD.
4. Heated seats.
5. Passenger side airbag.

Oh good, a debate!!

I see the mineral oil tank under the hood behind the L headlamp. I guess I'm wrong then, if it has ASR, it needs the tank for that, not for SLS. I bow to your observance. I've been served.

I have seen a couple of 201s with heated 'tex, seemed odd to me the first time I saw it. This is the first one I've noticed in a 124.

Nice cars (both of them) at least from the ads and photos, but the lack of accuracy usually makes me nervous as it is an indication of either dishonesty or unfamiliarity with the cars. I still feel that they're both overpriced for non dry-climate cars, a good southern car would bring that easily though.

No debate, just the facts.

ASR automatic slip control was available on cars with gas engines starting in '91. It used the ABS components to detect wheel spin. Then it would cut engine power or apply the brakes.

ASD automatic locking differential, was available on cars with diesel engines starting in 1991. It is an electrohydraulic system that can lock up the rear differential.

So only ASD has a traction warning light in the speedo? My 95 S420 had a traction warning light but no ASD.

My limited knowledge is limited to the 124, sorry. If it doesn't have the hydraulic tank it can't be ASD.
