Window seals (especially the rears) are toasted too.

I think it's easily possible for an engine bay that has only 77k miles but 25 yrs of dirt to look like that. He should have detailed it.

My, me-the only-owner, 300CD is as nice and it's got 225K miles, original exhaust system and doesn't get garaged very often. I suspect the miles and garage are marketing pap.

The best car photos (outdoors) are on an overcast day. The guy might have been in a hurry or otherwise just not much of a photographer.

Just for the record. I have never rolled back an odometer. I have never used shell bidding. The $28k 300TD did go to the high bidder in ca. A restaurant owner. That car was a friend of mines and he did not make a penny.

I do not take the time to super detail them. If they need something mechanically I will have it done.

The CD runs very very nice as a nicely maintained low mileage car should. Maybe it needs a brake and coolant flush but that is it. It actually runs right at 80C.

Sorry

I have seen a 1-owner all-original 300CD that runs great with cold a/c and with no rust, 130k miles, original everything, service records that document it from new to present... but it has faded paint on hood & roof (from FL sun), uncleaned engine bay, and minor loose interior trim pieces. It was bought new in 1985 by a lady when she was 65 y/o and (is now 88 y/o).

There are W123's like these still out there although seldomly seen nowadays...

You did the right thing posting that; as a note, why didn't you take the $17k bid on the wagon the first time around?

I still say that if you're going to sell an $8,800 300CD....clean the engine bay, put the proper group 49 battery into it at least.

I totally agree with your point. The car came that way and circumstances prevented me from getting those things done.

My friend had a $25k reserve on the wagon.

How was my post negative? I just said it was strange the reserve wasn't met. Your editing a very real conversation that happens to include the person being talked about. Good to see he's answering questions, but not every question is "positive"

I thought you were a moderator or something. Sorry, I rarely post here. Maybe it was my browser then, I posted and walked away. I bet it never sent.

Sorry

There is no way that car is worth $28k. It has GREEN coolant, nowhere near the right size battery and they didn't even try to detail the engine (Maybe a wash a few months ago!)
