E300D 606 mystery plug

When I removed the main air intake that goes across the top of the engine, I found this electrical connector just lying there. I can't find where it is supposed to go. I don't see anything that looks disconnected. Any hints/clues? '95 E300D OM606....

Could it possibly be a test lead of some sort?

Someone has replaced the glow plug wiring harness. Mine had the same extra connector. Don't know what it does.

Yep - the wiring harness has been replaced. I buttoned it all back up and itt runs fine without the plug hooked to anything... It was just kind of scary to see that thing hanging there empty.
