Husk,
Thanks for the interest. I am currently waiting for my newest MAF to arrive and not driving the car. UPS says Monday. I'm sure I'll have another update then.

Well, its Monday. Installed the MAF, cleared the codes, started him up and no change whatsoever. Still struggles to reach 55 on a level road.

I am at the end of my rope (and wallet), I have no idea where to go from here.

OBTW, it threw the P0100 MAF code again. It simply cannot be three bad MAF's. That was the only code but I only drove it about 3 miles. To disgusted to go farther...

Dang, sorry to hear it... Best I have to offer right now is to check wiring harness integrity. If mine was running, I'd be on a road trip to help you out with some parts swapping... I have the harness colors, and numbers at home and I can post them later if you're interested.

KarTek:

On your car, how strong is the connection between the wiring harness and the plug for the MAF? Mine you can twist the plug on the wires. I don't know if it will go all the way around, I don't dare. But it seems that the plug is on a swivel. Obviously if I have broken/loose wires in there I have probably found my problem. Just wondering if others seem this "loose".

Could my problem be an IP issue? It started relatively suddenly, it wasn't gradual.

If your wiring harness looks anything like mine - I wouldn't trust many of the wires. ALL the wires on the IP side of my engine under the intake manifold are shot.

Even the wires leading all the way up front to the AC clutch are completely deteriorated. I'm surprised the thing ran and the AC worked!

The wiring, at least outside the plug, looks normal. I think your 95 had the biodegradeable wiring harness. I remember it was somewhere in the mid 90's that had that problem.

I'll check out the plug and follow the wiring as far back as I can, tonite. If I find anything I'll bring it up.

If anybody has other suggestions please chime in!

Cal, my connector is reasonably stiff - about what you'd expect for 4 thin wires. If yours is really wiggly, I'd open it up and check it out. It's actually nice in that you can un-snap the cover and get right into it for inspection or repair. I'll post a picture of the ECU harness and the corresponding pins tonight when I get home. Until then...

Here's mine:

As for your problem being the IP, mine is goofing around right now in a similar manner to yours and I'm thinking it's the viton O-rings I put in. The viton just seems too stiff to make a good seal and there's air coming in everywhere. The fuel actually looks like foam running through the lines. The engine is also knocking louder than usual and surging. If it was a gasser, I'd say it was "missing". The code (whatever the current one is) is also stopping me from having my usual turbo boost...

The connector for the IP is on the right side inner firewall near the duo-valve. It looks like a big round electrical plug. There' s release tab on it and you might be able to remove it, inspect and re-connect it and make sure that's not the problem. Mine ejected itself with a pop when I pressed the release and it took a little effort to snap it back on.

Evan,
Can't see your pic (security firewall at work) I'll look at it at home. Could water in the fuel have ruined my IP? What other symptoms would a bad IP have?

You'd have to be REALLY neglectful of the fuel system for water to get in there. As in, never changing the fuel filters, etc...

Right now, my money's on a broken wire or a failed electronic component somewhere.

Try CTRL + F5 or try closing and re-opening your browser and see if the picture appears... Some places of business have automatic authentication for going out on the internet but if a new link shows up in a previous browsing session, it may not show because it has to re-authenticate but it won't tell you.

I checked out the plug and it looks fine. I followed the wiring and found a definite kink in the sheathing where it passes through the first wire holder. It got dark on me so tomorrow I'll remove the intake snorkel and have a look see. I agree it looks like a wire or other electrical malfunction, I just have to find it...

Did I mention that I tried a known good K40 and it had no effect either.

I only drove it about three miles after the new Maf was installed. Would the cpu need more time than that to adjust to the new MAF? Maybe I should drive it some more?

Have you by any chance been running Vegetable Oil in this vehicle?
