Not gonna start an e fight but you misread or didnt understand my initial posts and ideas.

I was keying on "... the w140 SD has electronic shift control. Its controlled by vacuum." This is true for 722.6 equipped cars, true to a lesser extent for 300SEs and S320s with the 722.5, but not for any 140.134.
-When I said controlled by vacuum i was refering to the early SD's not the w140 verison which is also vacuum controlled.

"... but theres more electronic components to the transmission then you think." which that diagram proves. It confused me because I thought you meant there are electronic components inside the transmission or some sort of transmission ECU. Clearly what used to be simple switches now have solid state components which are integrated into the BCM and likely other systems in the CAN.
-Misread/understood my statement

I respectfully disagree with "attached is the wiring diagram of the diesel w140 and you will see more modules controlling how electricity gets to the tranny." There are more modules deciphering information from the NSS and more electronics in the kickdown circuit but ultimately the NSS tells the starter when it's okay to engage and when to illuminate the backup lights and the switch at the end of the accelerator pedal swing tells the transmisison when to kick down. It's a more complicated application but that 722.3 is still just a 722.3.
-Wiring diagram is for the early w140 diesel for models startiing in the year 1991. your break down is correct but the modules are controlling and directing the electricity and making sure everything is working ok and then the car can start.

I will try to take a picture of the back end tomorrow hard to get too. I have a very tight cross member at the back and a drive shaft on that side (to the front axle (not standard Mercedes equipment)).

But there is a bolt on that side and that is it (original, no wires ever on that side).
