Spring spacers in the back?
Would something like this work in a 123 sedan?
or http://www.autozone.com/R,1922529/store,1843/initialAction,accessoryProductDetail/shopping/accessoryProductDetail.htm I'm looking to raise the rear end up, and a couple hundred in springs/bushings is a bit out of my budget

Have you replaced the spring shims on the rear springs?
Personally I tried something like that on an American car. It work for about a month, then the spring broke, just in front of the spacer. I was told the stress on that part of the coil was greater since the spacer reduced the amount of movement the coil was engineered to do, and the breaking point encountered more movement than it was supposed to take.

Hmm, good to know. I wonder if I can stick the spacer under or above the spring? I would like to add about 2.5" of height in the back. From what I've read adding 1" on the springs is the way to go.

Check w/Phil or Roy about getting the spring shims. Just be careful...too high or too low does affect the alignment geometry of the rear and front suspension.

adding more rake to the car, why?
The car already came from the factory with some serious rake ( reason why the w123 is also known as "The Wedge") |

There are 3 spring shims for the rear, IIRC 9mm, 14mm and 19.5mm. 19.5mm is around an inch (just under IIRC). My 240D sags a bit in the rear although its noticably less saggy with new shocks. After I replaced the passenger side the drivers side was noticably (an inch or two) lower. With both replaced the rear is even and higher than it was, I wish I'd measured before and after for comparison. Before doing the shocks I was planning on 19.5mm shims, now I'm thinking 14mm. I may still do the 19.5mm though considering the bags of sand I'll put in for the winter.
Actually I checked, its 9.5mm, 14mm and 19mm

Looks like I'll be going the 19mm spacer route. If you saw the car you'd cry, it tilts roughly 5* the wrong way. I also have a bad habit of 'living' from my car with 200-400 lbs of tools&parts in the back, so a little bit of a raise won't hurt anything.

Yeah I just ordered 19mm spacers for mine too, basically the same reasons, I also think a slight rake to the front looks good.

Yeah, a friend runs those in his SD to counter act the major drag your ass problem when you load down the trunk...
Bigger spring pads dont help with junk in the trunk. It works well, and stiffens it up as an added bonus.

I did on my SD,by using four rubber spacers between the coils. Also a new rubber diff. mount helps.
