Blower regulator r/y wire fried

This is on the 300sd. I resouldered the pin, taped it up, now my blower functions as it should.
My concern is what caused it to fry in the first place. Im equiped with the fuse strip on the front drivers side. I cleaned all that up already and the strip fuse looks good. The original fuse location is already melted which tells my why the PO had the fuse strip installed.
Any ideas? Anyone think this is a fire hazard?

Either a bad ground or a worn blower motor
