2 cycle oil in fuel
Does anyone use it in the benz Diesel engines ? on the cummins forums alot of us use it to lubricate the IP and make up for tha ULSD you get at the pump
been using it with a 1/4 : full tank ( 28gal ) in my 2002 cummins dodge for the past 28k miles I am not planning on using it in my benz but was just wondering if you guys do the same thing or have something better to use.

I don't see what it could hurt. I have no idea if its necessary or not. there are some folks here who seem to know a lot about the fuel who will chime in I suspect.

I've done it
I used to add some 2-stroke oil to my fuel, but it's expensive. For the last year or so I've been adding 12 oz. vegetable oil (yes cooking oil from the supermarket) to each tank.
I know some people say it's not necessary at all, but I'd rather err on the side of having more lubricity than not enough.

Its a complete waste of money. ULSD does NOT have any lubrication issues that apply to our engines.
Just because these are "Oel motors" does not mean you can or should pour random oil-based products in the fuel tank. It says "Diesel" by the fuel filler for a reason. |

The only thing you have to make sure that the fuel and lubricant are mixed thoroughly. In addition check the mixture for lubricant / additive separation on storage at lower temperatures.

I put a quart of oil in the tank every spring as a tonic to ensure the IP is adequately internally lubricated but as a regular thing I don't think its worth doing. The IP is lubricated by engine oil, the engines in the 115 (and I presume earlier) cars have an oil resevior you need to fill but later cars are lubed by oil from the engine.
Other engines don't have this feature and need additional lubrication.

Turkeyoil
I have to get rid of about 20gal turkey frier oil. Rather than hassle with taking it to the dump, can I filter this and mix it with diesel in some safe
ratio, and use it? I don't want to hurt my nice TD.

20 gal isn't very much, filter it real good through a couple layers of something and put a quart in a tank of diesel and everything will probably be fine, its pretty warm where you live so everything should be okay. I wouldn't do this a whole lot but once in awhile in a small ratio it'll be safe.

Maybe some scented lamp oil? Perhaps Strawberry or even Peppermint for the upcoming holiday season?

I have been running mine on whale oil. The problem is harvesting it is expensive!

I add some. However, I had left over 2 stroke oil and it gave me something to do with it. Since is is supposed to reduce the "wear scar" it is a good thing.
See post #13 for cart Spicer Lubricity Test. The shorter the blue bar on the chart means less "Wear Scar". Note where 2% Biodiesel falls on the chart. 2 Stroke Anyone?
