Lightbulb The "U" intake tube increses torque?? Why??

I done some testing with my "HOT AIR INTAKE" Aka "K&N Style intake but with paper filter instead setup" So I decided to install the notorious U intake tube, When i tested it, i was surprised how much torque it has from a straight 90* pipe to turbo to a U intake tube and a 90* tube, now my question how dose it produce more torque with the U intake tube.... SEE PICTURE FOR THE NEW SETUP...

P.S i tired cleaning my engine bay with a the steam cleaner and no luck so dont complain about the dirty engine i am trying my best here!!!!!!

how did you measure torque?

did you have access to a dyno? did you use a control...

also, that "intake" doesn't look like it belongs... -10 for stealthy install

Well i did not measure it with a machine but... By feel, it just feels more responsive i should say, that is the only way i can install the intake W/O the metal pipe hitting the turbo and begin able to shut the hood W/O the air filter to hit the hood...

Probably "feels" quicker because the 90* tube silences the airflow quite a bit.

Who cares how it performs, it looks like arse!!!
I would be embarrassed to open my hood in public, and I can't promise I'd feel much better opening it in private.
Oh the humiliation your car must be feeling.......

Until we get some dyno readings, your increased torque as a result of your setup, or rather, feelings of it are just conjecture.

Many of us are going to call

until we see data proving otherwise.

If you fix your engine so it doesn't shake at idle it won't break the mounts.

Yes, if all else fails, wedge a piece of rubber between it and the cam cover. Some folks use a piece of radiator hose and bolt it to the air cleaner housing, I used an old square muffler hanger.

I don't care about how it looks, engine performance is better than good engine looks... Seriously jimmyL its common senses

I'd have to see dyno results to believe that adding resistance to the airflow will increase any measure of engine output, either torque or power. It is counter-intuitive, as an Engineer I just can't see it.

Remove the tube and filter and you will have more power, for a while, add the filter you will reduce flow/power, add the tubing you will reduce the flow/power more.

To each his own on the hot-air intake in the engine bay, with a high-flow/low filtration filter element, I understand that some models do have some problems with mounting though.

Ditto. I'd have to see dyno numbers to believe that one.

Starting with a straight tube, any kind of restriction you add - even a slight bend - is going to decrease flow. Since an engine is essentially an air pump, pretty much anything that reduces or impedes the flow of air (in or out) is going to decrease power output rather than increase it.

I just can't see any way that a 180* bend in the intake path can do anything other than impede flow and thereby reduce power output.
