Odds are heavily stacked on the flasher being bad. (The flasher is about the only single component that would affect both the turn signal lights and hazard lights.) Does the hazard switch illumination lamp work?

Are your fuses OK?

I second looking at your fuses. See what fuse the blinkers are on and read what else may be on that circuit from the inside of your fuse box cover if it is still legible (on my '85 the horn as well as some other items like climate control are on this circuit). It can be difficult to tell that these fuses are shot as I learned in my 1200 mile drive through west Texas this weekend. Try jiggling and then replacing the fuse even if it looks ok. I'm ordering copper fuses (as opposed to aluminum) tomorrow.

I'm guessing since neither work your relay is bad. If your switch is a big push button type then the switch is the relay for the blinker and flashers. And since it's not working the relay is probably toast. If your switch is a toggle type the relay is up under the front of the shifter wood trim.

if you have the old aluminum fuses, change them all to the newer copper ones.. .will save you mucho headaches down the line. Rock your flasher switch back and forth several times. If your fairly handy you can remove the switch and dis-assemble and clean the contacts. Everything feeds through the flasher unit so if you have access to one.. just change it out.

Well its not fuses and i just replaced the hazard flasher unit with a brand new one so its not that, ill check the relay wich is why im asking for the diagram so i can trace it out.

Flashers
Cervan...
The Haynes book has the complete diagram if you have access to one of those....My 240D had a bad connection on the rear of the fuse panel on that circuit...very weak crimp from the factory....(junction was heat corroded)...1980 240D....The previous owner said it had given trouble for years occasionally.....

There is no relay. The flasher is powered through the hazard switch for both turn signal and hazard light operation.

You lied! You're still here. Hazard switch controls power to all the corner lites. Relay just ahead of the shifter controls the blinking. Pull the switch, dissasemble & clean the contacts & slider of the hazard switch. If that doesn't work, try jumpering the connecter & throwing away the switch. Don't forget to get a new one for inspection time.

Only on the older 123s. The newer 123s with the toggle style switch have a seperate relay.

Did you check the back window for plexiglass. I hear that can cause problems.

well ive been out there for like three hours, i still dont know if my brand new flasher unit is good or not, i know the fuse is good and that the combination switch is good (i would assume so since the other functions still work flawlessly) I did remove the cruise control wiring would that have anything to do with the flashers? the headlights and brake lights still work perfectly. But the one sided parking lights (on the headlights knob to the left of off) do not work on either side. So im not sure whats really going on.
