I've noticed that too. AAZ is more of a direct competetor, so there's something else going on.

I can certainly understand the desire to censure links to competetors. To link to a different parts site is like biteing the hand that feeds you, so I don't do it.

I understood the OP completely, but I'm nuts too.

I think its in poor taste, and so do the majority of members, to mention another competitor on this forum UNLESS its done subtlety and low key (or privately). This has been mentioned many times and some of ya just don't get it.

Its no different than walking into Home Depot and yelling "its 10% cheaper at Lowe's" (after the clerk just spent 15 minutes helping you solve a problem).

All of us have shopped elsewhere, we just don't need to announce it over the loud speaker.............speaking of which there is a Blue Light special over at.....never mind....

I agree. I just posted a not-too-subtle link to a tool at Autozone, even though Phil sells the official MB tool. I figure a common tool isn't a big deal, but a specific part that you have to order from a parts site is a different matter. If you have to order it and Phil carries it, Phil deserves some consideration. Just use some common sense.

I say, if Phil or Roy suggest buying elsewhere, then you know they are not out to screw anyone out of thier money. When an A/C line failed on my car, a new line was $400 on Fastlane, and was way cheaper than the dealer. Phil suggested that I have the line rebuilt first, and if it did not work out, then buy the new hose. The rebuild cost me $24 including tax.

When I need something right now, I buy local. Otherwise I will by from Phil and the others. It just depends on pricing and shipping, and who has parts available at the time I personally need them.

Like anything else, Fastlane has higher and lower prices than the competition. That is just the nature of the retail beast.

The issue is that people think this is a PUBLIC forum, which contributes this type of behavior.
But we all know it is not and it is privately owned by an outfit that sells parts.

I sometimes forget that it is not a Public owned place and slip once in while.

Have you bought anything from Mercede$Source?

I have before I knew any better. I think even the dealer is less expensive. Also, the price charged for shipping, you should get stuff by UPS, not USPS.

He charges for DIY.
I've yet to have to pay to get a question answered on this site (other than with pride). If you pose a question to KB, he directs you to one of his DIY kits you have buy. Ask the same question here and you have people happy to help and share their experiences tackling what ever problem you have.
He's not helping you, he's gouging you.

I have no hate, I've never purchased from the guy and I've never said anything about his company (privately or on the forum). The tone of my post was to refrain from blatant announcements about competitors. Competitors exist, fact of life.

Just use a little tact and common courtesy when discussing a competitor who doesn't financially support this forum.
