driveshaft tube diameter?

Hey guys,

I got under my 1978 300SD this weekend and measured the aft half of the driveshaft. The fingers on my calipers aren't quite long enough to be totally accurate, but as best I can tell, it is 3.17" in diameter. That's a pretty odd size, but that equates to just over 80mm.

Is the driveshaft tubing 80mm? Would any driveshaft place have access to this kind of tubing, or would I have to find a drivetrain place which specializes in mercedes vehicles?
