Anyone looking for an 85 300SD?

I stumbled across this. Don't know the owner, don't know the car, don't know nuthin'. Just looked like an intriguing candidate for someone.

If the car is as described that would be a very favorable price.

Did you notice the license plate ,"Florida ".The State which is known for low mileage ,one owner cars.No low mileage on her but condition looks great, this usually means a healthy amount of upkeep completed ,ask about reciepts to the seller who ever takes it for a spin.

Would be a good deal for someone if the service records support the claim "Well maintained."

No pics of the engine bay? Looks like low quality cell phone pics as well as low light.

If I lived there I would go check it out, and if all is up to snuff, I'd make an offer.

Well, I payed $1400 for my SD with 225k on it and I would guess a repaint of my SD to get the paint looking like that would cost me $500+, so maybe $1900.

Although my next Benz is going to be either a TD or CD in 1+ year from now.

Interesting --- I believe someone said low quality cell phone pics...could be right - I was thinking they need to turn their flash off.

So what's up with the right front wheel --- it appears to be stripped of all paint, or painted a dark color, or totally grease/oil covered.

Also noticed a grill badge of some type -- that could 'maybe' be a positive-maybe? Could indicate the owner is aware of mileage recognition....?

I paid $1500 for mine just a few months back --- 198,000 on the clock with service records up to 140,000...Owners wife talked him into a certified pre-owned Lexus, and he bought a sweet Dodge Cummins Pick-it-up...he lost interest in the SD, and to him it was just an old car leaving some oil spots on his driveway...

He thought it needed 3 new window regulators and motors-cause that's what his neighbor told him! His neighbor also told him he'd never find window motors for a car that old - His neighbor is a retired Chevy dealer mechanic...A few other minor issues that I knew were common and no big deal ----- he was firm on price, I will admit that.

So with help from fine forum members relative to the windows, $50 bucks to a friend of mine that works at a body shop - $20 in plastic jaw pieces from one of our fine on-line MB parts suppliers......My windows work fine!

Yes if
1. I needed another 126
2. The photo's and the sellers statements remained correct. That price is not to far out of whack for this area.

Brian - I wouldn't pay that for a rust belt car

Have you been quoted for a decent paint job in the last 30 years? Even if you did all the prep work yourself. Sanding, taking out molding, windows, it would still cost well over $1000. If you don't do the prep work, then the price quadruples...

At 289K, the potential for engine/trans issues is huge. A vehicle with 150K or 200K for an additional $1K is a far better value.
