Diesel fuel for less than $2/gal in the Houston area

Yes, fuel price threads are common, but I don't think we've discussed the price of diesel dipping below this point yet. I don't think I've seen diesel fuel below $2/gal locally since 2003 or 2004. There's an Exxon in the Houston area selling it for $1.81/gal, that's the lowest price in the area. Meanwhile, one station is still charging $2.99/gal for the fuel, the highest price in the area.

That's great --- In my part of NC, it's $2.5x to $2.99 range....

Hope it keeps dropping, but being that it's winter and demand for home 'heating oil' is now --- wonder how low it's going to drop.

I love driving my SD, but with gasoline being about $1.00 per gal cheaper -- it's hard to justify...

Lowest price here according to www.californiagasprices.com is $2.45 at Rotten Robbie, I plan to fill up tomorrow. They charge the same for B20 as D2, which is nice, I get the benefits of biodiesel without a price premium.

Fuel City in Mebane or the Sheetz before that should be cheaper.

Those are about 13 miles from me... I try to make up excuses to go that direction to fuel up... Trollingswood Rd. exit.

Here in Tennessee its $2.69 a gal. and Kero is $3.65.Now thats hard on folks heating with Kero. The Governor last year imposed road tax on Kero, caused he believed more people were burning it in their diesels. Now Po Folk (like me) can't heat our homes good.

I was amazed when I filled up Max yesterday. The price around the DC area varies between $2.50 and $3.10 a gallon. That's an amazingly wide spread, I think.

Can't you buy kerosene designated as "non-highway use?" That doesn't seem right at all.

Here in NC you can't buy any that's approved FOR highway use! Somehow they still charge within a quarter of the price of D2, but it's got red dye and it's road-illegal.

In my area diesel is $2.789 and K1 is $3.99.

I hope it drops to under $2 here too. I was happy when the price dropped under $3/gallon. It's now cheaper than when I first bought my wagon.

Yeah, Max is starting to seem like a good decision again. Max is fun to drive, but I initially justified the purchase by thinking of better fuel economy. The mileage is still good, but now the COST is much better, too.
