No glow plugs
1984 300TD Wagon. All of a sudden, we have no glow plugs. The dash light isn't illuminated and the plugs aren't getting hot. We thought we had tracked the problem to the preglow time relay, and changed it out, which includes the 80A fuse, but the problem still exists. Any thoughts?

When two or more GP's go out, the system will not cycle. Soumds like you checked all the typical areas, except the GP's themsselves. Also, note that just because a GP shows a good ohm reading, does not mean it's a good plug.
Diesel Giant has a great write up on testing the GP's.

Best to change all five, and keep any good ones for spares.Ream those holes too.Take a bad glowplug, beat it a little flat with a hammer.Sharpen with grinder or file(so it is larger than a glowplug by .015" each side). Screw this reaming into holes, remove and turn engine over to blow out carbon. Many happy miles on your new plugs.

Very common problem. I bet you it is the main power relay located under the dash on the driver's side. That relay failure is consistent with your symptoms.

Now that you've installed a new relay, do you have 12volts at all 5 glow plugs when you're glowing? Touch one lead of the meter to the end of the plug where the wire attaches, and the other lead to ground to check.
If you have +12v to each plug, then you have a couple bad plugs.
