W126 Brake Disc:How long does it take?

About how long of a job is it to replace the front disc? (Its cold out with few daylight hours left so I want to plan accordingly)

1991 350SDL- I've gone over 100,000 miles on this set of brake discs (With no idea how long they were on the car before hand....) I did the pads a few months back to try and stop a front end squeak. But the squeak is still there. Also i've been getting a lot of steering wheel shake (A balance on the tires helped for all of a few days....) Can I safely assume that a warped disc is the cause of all this?

Warped disks will give wheel and brake pedal shakes when the brakes are applied.

If you have never done this before, plan on a few hours, as you have to remove the brake caliper and the wheel hub w/bearings to remove the brake rotor.

You should also service or replace the wheel bearings and inner seal. If you replce the bearings, replace the bearing races as well.

You will have to unbolt the rotor from the hub, which can be a PITA since there is blue loctite on the threads.

Yep, forgot to mention that the car shakes under braking as well (Feels almost like a sideways swaying as if a bolt is lose on the wheel....go ahead, ask me how I know how what that feels like.......)

I'd replace them before something bad happens, like a broken disc..

The big variables in this job are how difficult it is to release the discs from the hub and how confident you are at setting bearing play. Brake discs is one of the few areas the 124 has better than the 126 . Be ready with a looong breaker bar, impact wrench and butane torch, or have a machine shop remove the bolts. If you try this yourself, a trick I learned is to attach the loose hub to a wheel so you have more to hold on to while you loosen the bolts... or maybe you have a 10" vice. The manual calls for a dial gauge to set bearing play. Many do it by feel. Basically you want the least amount of perceptible play along the axle axis. There's a goofy repetitive process to setting the nut that involves smacking the spindle with a hammer. You don't just turn the nut a little one way and a little the other. Or I completely misunderstood the FSM

A third variable is whether any hub bolts are damaged beyond reusability.

Short answer, plan on a full day.

Assuming the w126 is similar to the 123, it's the variables that will eat the time. For me it was a stripped hub bolt and stripped/corroded brake hose fitting.

You'll probably want to go ahead and do a complete brake fluid flush while your at it too.
