injection pump
My 83 240D (240K) was still smoking black after installing new injectors, after thinking I had nothing to lose I adjusted the adjustment screw on top of the govenor control, 1/4 turn at a time and was able to regulate how much fuel was going to the pump thus eliminating my excess smoke, When I turned it too far in I noticed a lack of power, too far out resulted in more power but too much smoke, so after numerous test drives around the block, I arrived at the happy medium of adaquate power and very little smoke I have spoke to several mb techs and none have ever heard of being able to regulate fuel delivery. Im here to tell you that it works, I couldnt believe it myself, and have demonstrated it to two of my diesel friends. This is my fourth MB diesel and thought that the little adj screw with the lock nut on top of the govener/rev limiter, mounted on the back of the injection pump was off limits to the home MB tech. Let me know if any of you have ever had any experience with this.

Are you talking about this:
If so, yes, that is the screw that controls fuel enrichment. Don't get too carried away and richen it up too much. Your exhaust temperature may rise to dangerous levels. |
