84 300 Turbo Diesel
I have 84 300 turbo with 160,000 mi. I am hearing a noise similar to a lifter noise (couldn't be a lifter since this engine doen't have hyd. lifters). This is most noticable when the engine is cold. I have checked the valve clearance, the timing chain tensioner and guides. How should I check the tentioner? There is not much in the MB CD ROM shop manual.

If you post this question in the diesel section you will get a quicker response. The moderators will probably move it there anyways.
I'm sorry I can't help with your question.
