is it a good idea to add.....

algicide to my fuel tank as a preventative measure if my car is going to sit through the winter? as i might not be able to start it often as it will be stored at family's other residence.
thanks for reading

Couldn't hurt! If you filled it with petrodiesel from a good source last time water or algae shouldn't be a problem, but if its going to sit some preventative measures are never a bad idea.

It wouldn't hurt, but probably not needed if you have good winter fuel and no water in the tank. Fill the tank all the way up so you have as little air in the tank for water to condense out of when it gets cold.

BTW it's not algea, it either fungus or bacteria. Algea needs light to grow.

Unless you have a problem i would not put algicide in the fuel.As advised above fill the tank but first put in some storage additive like stabil or similar. Don

Startron (I know, it almost seems like I work for them)

[BUT, I do not...'Have any connection]

Startron will preserve the Diesel and prevent any Nasty Growth.

I usualy do on the SDL, and once in awhile during the summer run some Startron or Biobor through the tank. Doesn't hurt.
