Engine swap

Currently own an 85 300dt. Would like to put my engine and trans into an
560sel. Has anyone done anything close to this?

One thought the 5cyl would be too underpowered for SEL

Any oyher thoughts would be appreciated

thanks

There is someone, IIRC it's Icefire, but I could be wrong on the name. It would be easier if you had a w126 SD, so that you would have the proper things to swap over.

SEC and SEL are very different beasts.

I would think an om617.95x would be a bit under powered for an SEL.

No worse than the difference between a 300D and 300TD.

I keep forgetting that bigger is not heavier. Curb weight SEL is 3500ish.

Do you already have a 560SEL? If not, consider a 300SEL or 420SEL of the same vintage without SLS so you don't have to get it to work or disable it.

As RRGrassi said, access to parts off an 81-85 300SD is the key.

hmmm, can't give any advice on that swap but I always thought about a 123 or 124 series diesel into maybe a 380 SL....
