It's supposed to be once every 12K miles.

Are there any leaky spots that you can pay attention to while you're there?

If you haven't replaced it recently, you might also consider a new valve cover seal, since it'll already be off.

I'm not entirely sure of the layout of the engine in the 300d, but if it's like the 300SD where the air filter is mounted above the engine, on little rubber vibration dampers, I'd consider at least ordering more of them, just in case you find that one or more of them have given up the ghost, when you pull the filter housing to get at the valve cover. (I'm not sure diesel giant sells them, but they're cheap just about anywhere. Here with Phil who hosts the forum for instance? )

Best of luck, and happy holiday wrenching!

A 1993 300D 2,5TD (om602) doesn`t need valve adjustment.
A om617 does.

Damn, I am so egocentric that I assumed he had a 300D like me.

The OM617 and the OM 616 need the valves adjusted every 15,000 miles. Nothing wrong with doing it earlier, though.

The OM 602 uses hydraulic lifters. No need to waste money on the tools.

Also have you looked at FastLane for some of those items?

DieselGiant is good, but the pricing is very high. The videos are good though.

Here is an example. Frigiquite oil, DG sells for $29.99 plus shipping. Local BG rep sells the same thing for $12, and delivers it to you.

Check out the transmission modulator test hose (gauge not included) for $35.50!!!

Six feet of German vacuum hose and a tee. I suppose that it's critical to use German hose when measuring German vacuum!!!

Basically nothing in that kit is compatible with a 93 model.
