Enjoy the drive, buy some chains, and get your a$$ and O'Turbo over here safely!

We'll see ya @ the GTG.

Eek! Pentas with snow chains on them?

I leave first thing in the morning, with a stop in Denver to visit some family before braving the mountains. If my I-phone weather report warrants it, I may do that, or just wait it out overnight somewhere.

I don't want to jinx it, but tomorrows forecasts look favorable.

LOL.....I thought I'd give him something to chew on while driving. I'm not for sure he saw it though because it was at the bottom of page 1

Roads were fine in the mountains yesterday. Really windy today. 80mph gusts kept waking me up last night. Chain laws are unlikely to apply to you unless you are towing a trailer. Better to spend your money on snow tires.

Ol' Turbo is safely made it to Edwards, Co. without incident... His reward was a warm bath and 5 days of rest in a heated garage.

Photos of the day:

I had to Google the quote daw, but I remember the episode well. TOS is next on my list for re-watching.

Anywho... What a drive!

My day started at 4:00 this morning, when my roommate and her friends returned to host a little after party to their late night binge. With less than an hour of sleep, I decided rather than to calm the ruckus and attempt to get a few more precious hours of rest, I should just hit the road...

At 4:25 A.M. I left my house... The drive across Kansas was, as always, boring as hell. With the exception of a big rig trying to re-enact a scene from "Christmas Vacation" with Ol' Turbo, nothing... I managed to reach Denver in 6.5 hours, eating a dozen or so massive tumbleweeds along Eastern Colorado.

As you can tell from the pictures, the mountain drive was amazing. Never have I traveled with this much snow on the ground with dry roads. Only the last 20 minutes after Vail pass were soggy...

I arrived at the ski house to find snow packed unplowed roads, with a slight uphill climb to the garage. Ol' Turbo was unfortunately unable to make it up the first leg until a plow truck made a few passes, then the right turn and big hill took 3 plowmen push power to make it.

Notice the Chrysler Aspen in the left side of the second picture... That is my parent's rental they picked up with only 26 miles on it. Shortly after getting it on the highway, it began smoking, and the transmission was slipping so horribly it had to be pushed up the hill to its current position.

Its trail of pink tears...

Time for me to enjoy the mountains; Ol' Turbo won't be moving until I leave for Vegas!

Great pictures and story telling as always. I love the trail of pink tears!
I have decided that your life doesn't suck! Amazing how you stay such a grounded dude.
Now, find you some snow bunnies. Remember how many of us are living vicariously through you this week.....

How about a return trip through Phoenix? You can rejoin I-40 by taking 60 to Globe/Miami through the salt river canyon and then through the Petroglyph National Park and meet up wit I-40 east of Holbrook!
